Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, including account details (such as name, email address, phone number, business information, and service area), plumbing questions, dictated text, issue descriptions, and plumbing photos you choose to submit. We also collect a random device identifier, a push notification token, and basic in-app events to operate notifications, secure the service, troubleshoot failures, and understand feature reliability.
How We Collect Information
- Directly from you: when you create an account, edit a plumber listing, ask a plumbing question, dictate text, describe an issue, or upload a photo, we collect exactly what you enter or submit.
- Automatically as you use the app: we generate a random device identifier and a push notification token, and we log basic in-app events (for example, a feature loading or a request failing) needed to run notifications, keep the service secure, and diagnose problems.
We do not purchase personal information about you from data brokers, and we do not build advertising profiles about you.
How We Use Your Information
We use information to operate accounts and plumber listings, answer plumbing questions, analyze plumbing photos you choose to submit, deliver notifications you request, maintain security, troubleshoot failures, respond to your inquiries, and improve service reliability. We do not repurpose content you submit to AI features for an unrelated purpose without asking for your consent again.
Third-Party AI Processing (OpenAI)
PlumbingAI uses a third-party artificial intelligence service, OpenAI, to power its AskPAI and Leak Detection features. Before any of your content is sent to OpenAI, we tell you what will be sent and ask for your permission.
What data is sent
- AskPAI: the plumbing question you type or dictate. For dictated input, we send the resulting text transcript, not your microphone audio.
- Leak Detection: the plumbing photo you select and the text description you enter.
Only content you intentionally submit for a specific request is sent. We do not send your account details, contacts, location, or device identifiers to OpenAI.
Who the data is sent to
Your submitted content is sent to OpenAI, LLC, our AI processing provider, and is handled under OpenAI's privacy and security practices. You can review OpenAI's policy at openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
We ask your permission first
The first time you use an AI feature, PlumbingAI shows a consent screen explaining that your content will be processed by OpenAI as a third-party AI provider. Nothing is sent to OpenAI until you tap "Allow & Continue." If you decline, you can still use every non-AI feature of the app.
Same or equal protection
We require OpenAI to protect the content you submit with the same or equal protection described in this policy and required by applicable law. Content submitted through OpenAI's API is not used to train OpenAI's models.
Please do not include faces, names, addresses, or other personal information that is not needed for your request.
Other Service Providers
We use Supabase for application database and storage services and Expo for push-notification delivery. We require service providers that process user data for us, including OpenAI, Supabase, and Expo, to provide the same or equal protection described in this policy and required by applicable law. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share content you submit for advertising or tracking.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information during transmission and processing.
Retention, Deletion, and Your Choices
AskPAI questions and generated answers may be stored to provide and improve the service. Operational events and notification records are retained only as reasonably necessary for service operation, security, and legal obligations. You may decline AI sharing and continue using non-AI features. In the app's Privacy Policy screen, you can withdraw AI-sharing permission; PlumbingAI will then ask again before any future AI transfer. Withdrawing permission does not delete content already processed. You may request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us below.
